The AONB has 820km of footpaths and bridleways. From long distance routes to easy strolls there is something to suit everyone’s ability and interest. On this page we have tried to give you a flavour of some of the local walks available.
The Nidderdale Way is a 85km (53mile) circular walk from Pateley Bridge. The walk takes in varied scenery, from rugged moorlands to undulating gentle pasture along the valley bottom. The total route can be found on OS Explorer 298 map. We offer a drop off and pick up service for those people who would like to spread the walk over several days. Just book this service with us in advance, we can help advise on suitable break points in your journey.
Pateley Bridge to Glasshouses, offers a leisurely stroll suited to everyone, including young families and the disabled. The flat 4km (2.5 mile) walk follows level well surfaced paths alongside a peaceful section of the River Nidd. The route passes a number of interesting historical features and you may see a variety of riverside birds like dippers and grey wagtails.
